Wedding: Afterthoughts.

My sister has been married 12 days now. She returned from Jamaica 5 days ago and I've been back home in South Carolina for 4 days. It's been expected that I blog about the big day. I started a blog yesterday but I was in a sourpuss poor poor me mood and decided to delete that blog to save face and that I don't want to sound like a brat. Really I've just been a little "blah" I think that since the weddings over and I still am on the job hunt that I've just been feeling useless. I made the wedding my job for months it's been a great distraction and a pleasure. I love my sister so much and no matter how much I complained about it I was so glad to know that I had a big part of making one of the most important days of her life special. Her day was special indeed and I encourage you to look up her photos on facebook because they're great. Gitchell's photography did an amazing job and no matter how annoying pictures are at the time you have to remember at the end of the day, years from now all you have is memories and those memories are captured in pictures.

I have so much I want to share from the DIY things right down to every little detail. However, today is not that day. But I do encourage you to contact me about anything you need because I have some great ideas and advice and I know how to stretch a dollar. The candy buffet and center pieces are my pride and joy! I am ready to start another wedding which is why I know that I could do this forever. So pass my name around if you please :) I'm looking for other jobs and am going to try to freelance wedding planning on the side, that's the plan. I mean why not right?

So after the wedding I cleaned up at the stable so we wouldn't have to come back in the am. Special Thanks to Courtney & Mark and The Reichs for being so awesome and helping out so much! Hermitage Hill Farm & Stable is amazing too and I highly recommend this place- its holding capacity is one of the largest in Augusta County and Craig (owner) even though I think he should hire me as his sidekick is awesome and insanely hardworking. When getting back to the newlyweds home I knew that a had a couple of duties that I was expected to do and the first being deposit money- wow it made me want to have a wedding! Ashley and Steven had planned on using the money in Jamaica but ended up not because afterall it was all inclusive. Sure enough Sunday morning I had a text from the lovebugs..."Shug, how much money did we get and we're about to board no phones in Jamaica!!" Half a wedding cake later the week of housesitting was over. I spent a lot of it having downtime, being lazy, returning all 8 suits!, visiting my bffl Stacey, having beautiful moments with the Talley's. (six days later the amazing Carl Talley passed away..rest in peace and thoughts and prayers with Nannie, Tamara, Abby, Jeff, Tim, Renee, Jessica, Luke, Becky and the rest of the Talley clan <3)

Now it's four days later from my "vaca" in Waynesboro and it's good to be back? I had an interview on Monday but have not heard back from them yet. I've also been applying to jobs here in SC, Roanoke and Charlottesville. At this point I'll relocate if I must but I think I need to get back to Roanoke-I love it there and it's closer to "home-home." Maybe I'll weigh the pros and cons on these locations in my next blog.
This week I've also slept and went to the pool and I need to go back to the gym, ugh. In another wedding in six months :) My brothers! Oh and I'll be attending a wedding in two weeks. I love weddings. :) I bought some things to wear to this wedding in two weeks but we'll see all I know is that I'm not wearing white. I've seen pictures from wedding season where gals are wearing white to rehearsal dinners and the actual freakin' wedding, umm manners? Oh well you can't steal a bride's thunder no matter what- you can't buy that glow :)
Anyways, that is all I have for now. I'll try to keep up with the blogging as I keep up with my endeavors! :)I have a pool to tend to!

Oh my gosh real quick. Jersey Shore Season 2 tonight! partyyyyyyyyyyy's here! haha. Maybe I'll blog about this Jersey phase American TV is in I know Jersey hates it but thanks for the entertainment! <3

Happy days.

Eventful Day

So since I've began this blog I haven't written about how my day was specifically on that day so I think today I will. Of course my day involved weddings it always does but this time it wasn't all about the upcoming one. (six days!) A couple of weeks ago my brothers fiance Anna Brooks or as I sometimes refer to her ABC sent all of her local bridesmaids an e-mail about a bridal show. I later found out my brother had sent it to her and said "I think you might be interested in this but I don't want to go with you." Lovely but I was excited about the invite because I am not that familiar with the local vendors in Charleston and if I want to get a job here a bridal show is an opportunity for good networking.

The show was in Charleston the South Carolina wedding mecca pretty much but ABC is getting married in the "upstate" - what she kept referring it to, I just know it's two hours away not even sure the direction to be honest- I mean I know upstate means North but I am confused because it's near Georgia? The other two tag-along bridesmaids and I were contemplating this over a delicious drink concoction.

Any ways, I had a lot of fun. I would encourage you to go to one if there is one offered in your area. My sister went to one and scored a nice ring for her groom! Also, there was a lot of men there being the supportive whipped soon-to-be husbands but for real they looked like they weren't terribly miserable. There was a southern catering buffet-pulled pork, shrimp, crab cakes- no doubt a guy could grab a plate and stand beside their mate and do what they do best smile and nod!

Somethings that really stood out to me besides the delicious catering were some of the vendors. When we arrived we started from the beginning and mostly went in numerical order of the tables. It was $10/per person and the bride got a cute pink tote plastered with sponsors. The entrance had a three piece band playing starting to the left was the bands company, followed by a rental company, a medical person? (skipped that table probably because all of us minus me are all future PhD's!)next a photographer, catering- had delicious wedding cake my personal fav. Belgium Chocolate
they had a real great presentation that vendor, next Menswear House (plug: Really sweet deal for your groom- 5 tux rentals and your groom gets a free rental, tux or suit for keeps), Davids Bridal. We made it around that curve! Next Charleston Events Company they had a cute polka dotted b&w table set-up with a purple as its pop color! After that we skip around ate some seafood and then go to the highlight of our day the Shutter Booth. What fun! A photo booth at a reception I know the idea has been around for awhile but this lady's presentation was incredible. She had props! Boas, Ball Caps bedazzled "Bride" or "Mother of the Bride", Zebra Cowboy hats, fun glasses etc. We had four great posses the bride has the prints but the idea is so cute. The booth prints two- one for keeps and one to add to a scrap book it's a twist to a guest book. She priced it at $900 for four hours- I love the idea! After that we talked to some entertainers more catering and hit up the candy buffet last. Again not such an original idea but a candy buffet is a great idea for favors instead of getting hundreds of dinky things no one wants. It's less expensive and actually going to be enjoyed! However, I don't think that paying someone to do this is worth it unless it's meeeeeeeeeeee. We're having one at my sisters-she doesn't want me to spill but all do a how to blog later on that! We skipped out on the 4pm fashion show because the bride ABC has already gotten our dresses and her dress so who wants to see something they might want more than they already purchased? Not me!

Then we registered to win a honeymoon and left the show. Fun, thanks for taking me ABC! Next we headed to see the hubby-to-be and watch the World Cup. Yay Spain! After that we headed to my house and ate some dinner and tried on bizillions of dresses. So much great things happening-SO happy for my siblings. I can't believe we're going to pack the car tomorrow and head to VA Tuesday for the wedding!! So freakin' excited!

Thanks for reading! :)

Avoiding the Avoidable- Wedding Kit!

As mentioned I am obsessive and it comes in handy to worry for everyone else sometimes. I am all about hoping for the best but expecting the worst when it comes to planning anything. Some things happen and there really isn't anything you can do about it but what about avoiding the avoidable? Lost? Of course you are I am talking weddings. This time next week we'll be dancing and my sister will be a Short and no longer a shorty. So wedding is on the brain, as always.

It may be the crisis management courses and pr training that has made me this way but I'd like to say it's really just being savvy and one step ahead. As an old soccer tee I own says "expect the unexpected" or in this case the rather expected. I am working on putting together an emergency kit for the wedding mainly for the bridal party- I am going to brainstorm some must haves in this kit.

When planning for a emergency kit you'll first need a carry all. This could be anything a bag, tool box, caboodle (yeah I said that), fishing box, sewing box anything. I think that getting a trendy plastic bag monogrammed with the brides new initial would be a nice touch bonus it's now a gift! Amazing.

Then you must fill this carry all. Think about things that happen...clasps break, bustles snap, buttons pop, shoes scuff, fabric rips! The horror. Here's how to make sure that these things don't rain on your parade!

The Kit:

Medical:
-Pepto/Imodium: let's be real, stomach nerves anyone?
-Tylenol/Excedrin/Pain Relief: Pain, headaches, hungoverness
-Allergy Relief: especially outdoors
-Benedryl
-Band aids/Triple Antibiotic Ointment

Clothing Repair:
- Needle and colored thread- have you seen the little wimpy loop for a clasp?
- Colored thread!!- can't say it enough- get it in all colors especially groomsmen attire color and bridesmaids and of course white!
- Buttons- bridal buttons, tux buttons etc. Ask for replacement buttons at the rental place just in case
- Always bring the repair kit that some dresses come with girls- the little bag that has a button and some thread.
- Hem Tape/Fabric Tape
- Safety Pins/Straight Pins
- Clear Nair polish for runs
- Spot remover
- Scissors
Honestly it's not a bad idea to bring a sewing box in addition!

Beauty:
- Make up for touch ups even if you're getting your make up done professionally!
- Lip gloss and mascara a girls best friend.
- Bobby Pins/Hair ties
- Tissues- pass those things around- bridesmaids you can tuck one in your bouquet it'll look less trashy than pulling it out of your boobs during ceremony
- Nail polish in the shade you're wearing and some french manicure touch up
- Deodorant
- Lotion
- Tampons

Etc:
- Food: candy bars, fruit, maybe a Pb and j- Eat meals regularly the day of but keep some on stash in case the bride or anyone else "forgot to eat" Keep fruit and juice handy especially if any one's diabetic.
- Water- keep hydrated! maybe bring some Gatorade for those who got to crazy at the rehearsal dinner.
- Super glue/glue gun/duct tape...you really never know.
- Brand new nude colored thong size med.- vpl? I don't think so.

2 shame less plugs: I have tried the baby gel for skin instead of oil it makes legs look nice without looking too slick. I would suggest it! Second, ABC- my brothers fiance introduced me to eyelid primer- it really does work. I have Physicians Formula "prime time" $16. Not too shabby and it'll lasts forever- wear and use!

So when it's your big day or a loved one's big day be the super hero. Everyone will give you kudos for being so on tops of things! I'll probably add more if I think of great things or if you have any suggestions let me know! I want to perfect this lists and maybe give it as gifts for future clients- an actual kit not the list! :)

Thanks for reading. I hope your day is flawless :)

picture: Bag Idea. This bag is plastic and would be perfect for a carry all kit. Also, those initial decals things you see on cars- yep, they rub on to these too! Awesome right?

Fabulous Fourth Indeed!

As promised. My fourth of July wasn't great it was simply fabulous. I spent my fourth of July with some people that I've not seen or even talked to as much as I should. I think I've subconsciously been avoiding some people just to deal. It might not make sense but sometimes the best way to deal with something is not dealing with it all. I don't know I think time heals all and I knew I was ready as soon as I saw the invite on events on Facebook. I knew it was time. Fourth of July at Charlie & Sara Boxler's was MaDee's favorite. She loved The Fourth- I had the pleasure of attending a few cookouts and one fourth of July with MaDee at Charlie & Sara's.

So Saturday morning (the third not the fourth!) I went to their annual cookout. I knew MD's dad would be there but had no idea her sister would. It was a great surprise! I loved seeing them both so much. I spent the 2 hour drive giving myself a pep talk about how it would be to see everyone- don't cry and don't be awkward. I think I managed it overall. It was great to see MD's two cousins that are relatively close in age to me. It felt like we were friends and that there was this obvious bond we shared because of our love for MD. I spent a lot of time with BBox C&S's daughter. I loved her from the day I met her. She is so likeable and fun! After the cookout I spent the day doing regular things as if MD was there. I thought of her all day and C&S made it like nothing has changed. They had a fridge full of everything and turned on the Showtime OnDemand and wanted to know Nurse Jackie or United States of Tara? Tough choice. I went with US of Tara first and finished it by the end of the night. When MD was living at C&S's I went over there a lot and we'd eat and watch all of the great tv- we were obsessed with US of Tara and Jackie! I would spend the night in her "room" they designated for her. It's now Brittany's room but she still has the Chris Brown poster and MaDee's Room sign hanging up. Sweet memories. It didn't feel sad it felt good- I had this warm feeling surrounding me all weekend that just felt like a giant hug.

I should also mention that MD's cousins came later that day and they had a 4 year old girl that was adorable and like every kid and big kid obsessed with sillybandz! This little one was precious! Later that night we played some "games" and went to sleep. The little one handed out sillybandz that night and in the morning saw mine on my wrist and she wanted it back <3 I love children!

Sunday, the real Fourth of July we said goodbye that morning to some family members heading back home. Later that night after naps and Nurse Jackie we went to see fireworks and came home and got in the pool BBox and I talked for hours. These are the things I love. Simple plans, nothing fancy and a lot of good conversation.

The next day I said goodbye and headed down the interstate for another six hour drive. Thank you Boxler Fam for always making me feel welcomed and continuing to let me be part of the family!

...
This week is crunch time-10 days until the wedding! I don't know what to blog about next! Thanks for reading!

Happy Fourth of July!

I am heading to my beloved state so I probably won't be blogging all weekend, so sad :( However, I wanted to post something cute about fourth fashion or what to do but really don't have the time. I have to pack and get to getting. I am expected to be stuck in Charlotte forever too bad I don't have a fancy phone so I could blog when I'm just sitting! But I don't and I try to be a safe driver so you'll just have to wait. I will blog about my weekend when I get back- if it's fabuolous. Oh and I have been working countless hours on some exciting things for Ashley's wedding! But I can't share until post wedding so I might have to add a new blog for just wedding stuff, decor and crafts but not until later. I'm big on wedding etiquette and stuff like that. It should be good but not for a while Ashley won't let me spill anything. I am excited to get to see my dress for the wedding this weekend!

Okay so I did find this fabulous blog about fourth fashion so just pretend I wrote it haha :) http://myfashionaddictions.blogspot.com/2010/06/what-to-wear-4th-of-july.html

Have a great & safe fourth :)

love <3
